Gopro cannot download device driver

I guess the next step is to formally as GoPro what's going on. I also have a Z motherboard, and the cable solution lead me to my own solution.. I sure won't be buying the extended care package or whatever it's called. Hi all and merry Christmas, What a product Wish you all the best! Br Frederik. My laptop has 4 USB 3. That did not work at all as in the Hero8 didn't even show it was connected via USB and Windows did not see it in device manager. It does charge though which makes me believe that is is just a charging cable.

I used that in the USB C port. Like everybody else, in device manager it showed but neither Windows Explorer nor GoPro Quick recognized it. The Hero8 did show that it was connected via USB. I did not do any research before getting my Hero8. If I did and found the responses from support listed in this thread I would have not gotten it. When I'm out and about and if anyone asks me about my Hero8 I will let them know that if they think they will need any support to not get a GoPro.

Hi, is anyone else still having issues? My Hero 8 won't connect correctly to my PC brand new yet it has not issue with my older laptop. Lots of folks seem to be having the issue. I've reported it myself, but all I got from GoPro is the team is looking into it. I linked them the multiple posts of people having the issue. In the meantime I hook up like you do to my other device, a Surface Laptop which works fine. Looks like i'll resort to load onto the laptop and then transfer the files via USB stick to the PC, and hope that works for now.

I just ordered the Thunderbolt Cable. Will confirm that it works for me. Will be here in 3 days. Will let you know on Saturday. The PC recognises it as GoPro files. Just talked to GoPro support. I was told that with the latest update this functionality for downloading via the usb cable is no longer available. Seems like a major bug to me in the camera software.

WTF comes to mind as an appropriate response. So what about us mere mortals that do not have thunderbolt ports for the magical cable to plug into, is there any sensible fix for us? This is my first gopro experience as I've been using a cheap chinese knock off until now, and am already regretting downgrading to a genuine gopro. The chinese one may have had worse picture quality but it did actually have some customer support and more importantly it worked I guess we should keep in mind here that apart from the AWFUL customer service and connection issues And I have to say I've also been impressed with the sound in a quiet area when vlogging.

I'm afraid so Don't get pissed at us, we're all in the same boat as you. GoPro have openly stated they no longer watch these forums. My suggestion. Anyone with Twitter, tweet them with this forum link, get it retweeted. Eventually they'll have to accept a fault on their end. I just got the Thunderbolt cable in. I plug the camera in and the computer recognized it.. However GoPro Quik doesn't open up or recognized it. I bought a new Go Pro 8 Black.

I had a miserable time trying to get videos to play on a computer. I spent way too much time on You Tube trying to figure out how to play the videos. I was on the phone with Go Pro chat and I could not play a single video on the computer.

I was told to read a long paper on why computers cannot play video and files to download to play Go Pro videos. Nothing worked. You have done a fantastic job. As far as I am concerned, I am sticking with you.

If you have a list of other go ways to use the Go Pro I would appreciate knowing about them. Thank You!!!! Table of Contents. About the Author Latest Posts. Bryan Haines. What is Headless Mode on a Drone? Some of our favorite camera gear: Here are some of our favorite things to bring on our outdoor adventures. I completely understand that this issue only appears to be happening in a few cases - but honestly - it shouldn't.

Does anyone else have a solution that I could try? A lot of people contact gopro support with this issue - no fix at all Do you think this is real fair behaviour from brand like gopro?

What to do more? None worked. He said he would need to get back to the tech team and asked for some screenshots of my system etc. At the time of writing hours later I have NOT received his email and so am unable to send over those screenshots. I did indeed, but he alluded to the fact this forum wasn't really supported by GoPro anymore Hero 8 - Windows 10 can see the device but won't cooperate [ New ]. Someone please help, and no, I don't have a SD card reader so that's not an option.
